A Round Up. And Ice Cream. And Excuses.

Yes. I know I said I’d post on Tuesday about the crazy awesomeness which was Sunday’s performance BUT, I’m here to tell you that self-permissive tap outs are a thing. I gave myself a teenser bit of a break on Monday and Tuesday. I mean, not with the cooking, cleaning, child-cartin’, or contractual writing…but the rest? Oh yes. Slacktitude was (kinda) achieved.

I baked this. Because I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving the house to go
to the store. And if you know how much I fear recipes, this is HUGE.

And the full recap of the Chicago Listen To Your Mother Show will come tomorrow. (For realsies.)

‘Cause it was terrific.

Other Things I Did Last Week Which Weren’t Yelling Onstage:

And Things Which Have Nothing To Do With Me But Chicagoans Need To Know News:

  • July 8th and 9th are dates you’re gonna want to keep in mind. That’s when the Chicago Dancing Festival will be releasing their tickets to the general public; Tickets are free, but first-come-first-serve for this incredible celebration of dance at venues all around downtown Chicago. A blend of ballet, hip hop, and modern dance will be featured at the Harris Theater, the MCA, and the Pritzker Pavilion (outdoor dance, you guys!) from a variety of amazing, nationwide companies. The festival itself will take place between August 20th to 23rd, but you’re really gonna want to secure tix to these thrilling events by visiting their website here. (I’m totally calling dibs on a Pritzker Pavilion ticket.)
  • And holy moly, does this sound fun for families (and certain sweet-tooth-happy husbands I happen to know): The 2nd Annual Pivot Arts Festival is taking place from May 28th- June 14th in the Chicago ‘hoods of Uptown, Edgewater, and Rogers Park. The theme for this year’s innovative performances is Arts Meets Science- and it looks fabulous. With a mix of programming including participatory science experiments, theatre, live music (including a house music dance party), and loads of stuff for the littles, you will find something you’ll all dig. Two things on my radar? June 1st’s Ice Cream & Science Improv (presented by Storytown) at Lickety Split Custard & Sweet Shop (6056 N. Broadway, 12p $7) and The Dance COLEctive’s 13 which, through hilarious character-based dance, shows the transition from childhood to the teenage years. (That one runs May 31st and June 1st at Swift Elementary, 5900 N. Winthrop Ave, 3pm $10) For a full listing head over to their site here.

A week’s worth of exceptionally important blog reading and the opportunity for custard?

I think I’ve found my niche.
