4 terrific ‘something they want, something they need’ picks for the littles!

Disclosure: Thank you to this month’s sponsors for making our holiday oh-so merry and bright with our “something…” roundup! Although I’m compensated, all thoughts, opinions, and thoroughly stoked children are entirely my own.

It’s always a little tricky to balance the intake of goods with the output of, you know, doing good during the holidays. That’s why I’m so, so happy to present Lollygag Blog’s guide of “something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read” roundup of actual, fun, kid-approved gifts.

Simplify the wishlist, you guys! Give back whenever you can, you guys! (Especially when it’s this easy.)

Let’s begin!

4 'something they want' picks from Lollygag Blog

Something they want…

Magna-Tiles Stardust & Glow Sets

Kids and parents alike love Magna-Tiles. Satisfyingly sensory and sturdy enough to build smallish cities, Magna-Tiles have long been a staple of hands-on fun toolkits. But these magnetic shapes have new, holiday-ready looks for your tiny architects: The Magna-Tiles Stardust Set is 15 pieces of glittery and mirrored building tiles(!!), and the Magna-Tiles Glow Set features 16 glow-in-the-dark tiles as well as an included LED light- which writes secret messages that light up in the dark(!!) for playing with these incredibly cool kits well into the nighttime. (Just a warning, Santa: If you set these up under the tree, the reindeer will eventually wonder what’s keeping you…)

As always, these are compatible with all other Magna-Tile sets. Age range is 3 and up, but I think it’s pretty safe to say “103 and under.” (So. Much. Fun.)

…Something they need…

A comforter from The Company Store

If your kids are anything like mine, their bedding could use a bit of a refresh. (And a reminder that markers make terrible snuggle buddies.) I’m loving on the Marrakech Medallion Percale set– but those lightweight down comforters are catching my eye, too… Cozying up with a comforter from The Company Store is an easy way to enjoy those chilly nights- but want to do more with your purchase?

Oh wait, you’ve already done it. Because with each snuggly comforter purchased from the Company Store, a comforter is automatically donated to a homeless child in America through Family Promise and the Buy One, Give One program. (Nice job!)

…Something to wear…

Love Your Melon’s pom beanies

Let’s keep the do-gooding going, shall we? I love Love Your Melon gear because a) it’s supremely adorable stuff, and b) they’ve not only gifted over 149k hats to children who are fighting cancer, but they’ve also donated over 4.7 million dollars to the fight against pediatric cancer. I MEAN.

And if you tell me your kid hasn’t already misplaced a hat this season, I’m gonna call you out. (Unless you live in a warm climate. In which case- want holiday visitors?) But for the rest of you, take a gander at Love Your Melon’s fantastic array of soft n’ lovely beanies. (I can barely handle how much I love the burgundy pom beanie– ahem- for the kids. For the kids.)

…Something to Read!

‘Builder Brothers: Big Plans’

Fans of home reno and real estate already know and love Drew and Jonathan Scott (a.k.a. HGTV’s Property Brothers). But did you know these savvy twins are also authors? In Builder Brothers: Big Plans, a picture book for the youngest DIY-er, the bitty brothers are gigantic dreamers with a plan for a double-decker doghouse. It won’t be easy- and it won’t be quiet- and it may not even work out the way they had intended…but it will be proof that little kids can do big things.

Not only is this superbly sweet story a fun one to read with the kiddos, but it comes with a project tailor-made for adults and kids to work on as a team- because teamwork makes the dream work. (And, who knows? Might even eventually land you your own show.)

Want to play elf and gift this great read to your favorite creative kiddo? Enter the (easy!) Rafflecopter below for your chance to win a copy of Drew and Jonathan’s ‘Builder Brothers: Big Dreams!’

Good luck, pals- and happy (simplified) gifting!
