Being A Pollyanna (And Wrapping Up The Week).

At the risk of sounding like a Pollyanna, I’d like to start off my week with a list of things for which I’m utterly grateful. I mean, couldn’t hurt, right? (Since I think we all know what it feels like to wake up and [angrily] marvel yet again at the sound of the alarm…and necessity to DO things…and and and…)

(Side note: Remember the Made For TV movie Polly, which was a 1950s adaptation of Pollyanna and starred Keshia Knight Pulliam? Man, that movie was awesome.)

Onward.

I am so thankful for friends like Maurya and Jamie, who just this weekend provided me with bags and boxes of third trimester, cold weather clothing. Yes, I’ll still be rocking jeans and hoodies, but they’ll be jeans and hoodies no one has seen on me before, and I think that’ll be a refreshing change.

I am utterly grateful for friends like Jamie, Angie, and a host of others who will watch my kids for free (and allow me to do the same), so that we can all pretend we’re not completely broke, completely exhausted parents. This is a nice pretense.

I’m thrilled to live in a town where there’s not only a bevy of culturally awesome things to which I can bring my children, but also one where people present me with free tickets for the samesuch events in exchanging for getting to write about them. (Related: stay tuned for some reviews of pretty darned amazing kiddo theatre. For seriously.)

This kid knows her reviewin’.

I’m oh-so lucky to have a Dad who’s currently punching cancer in the face- and is, at this very moment, on the mend from his most recent biweekly round of chemo. (He’s also, at this very moment, lovingly rolling his eyes at the fact that I am still writing about him.)

And I’m incredibly indebted to the universe that I was not in the backyard when a rat from the alley expressed an interest in P.J. and his lawnmower. (Remember that bit about loving the fact that I resided in a city? HA.)

Thankfulness abounds. Who’s feeling ready to start their week?!

And now- Yes, I Also Think It’s Odd To Do A Weekly Wrap-up On A Monday Morning:

On Tuesday, I was supra-stoked to write a piece for the awesomesauce NickMom about my love (and stellar knowledge) of shoes.

Wednesday brought me having yet more feelings regarding cars and minivans and purchasing adult vehicles. Which is a weird thing to type.

I found myself in a one-sided argument on Thursday with Martha Stewart. You know, as you do.

And Friday showcased my Chicago Parent review of the completely terrific Skelebration at Redmoon Theatre which everyone and their mother and smallish child should go experience.

So go catch up on your blog readin’.

And if you’re a [literate] rat…

…please stay on your side of the alley.
