Nora Is A TwirlyGirl.

When you have daughters, you get presented with what society thinks they should want in terms of fashion. And when you have two very present daughters, they bring their own ideas to the metaphorical table. (The physical table is way too covered in glitter and smallish wheels to be of much use right now.)

Sometimes companies are way off base in their product and advertising (I’m lookin’ at you, sassy-writing-across-the-butt sweatpants and I’m Too Cute For Math hoodies), but every now and again a brand gets it right. Enter TwirlyGirl.

Forget “gets it right.” Every now and again a brand like TwirlyGirl hits it clear outta the park.

I am so, so in love with this line of dresses for tween girls like the ones featured here. (They’re also superstellar for their bitsier counterparts.) These garments are flat-out gorgeous…and more importantly, built to last. Like, with a 4 thread overlock stitch seam and meant for repeated washings. (Because seriously, People Who Make Dresses For Tweens And Their Bitsier Counterparts: flimsy material which rips mere seconds after the first washing really gets my dander up. Ever tried to repair a hole in a gauze-like part of a new “favorite outfit?” I bet you haven’t, People Who Make Dresses For Tween And/Or Slightly Smaller Females. Because if you had, I imagine you’d spend less time on the glitter embroidery extolling how HOTT people should find your eight year-old and more time toughening up the seams of a garment meant for a real life gal who does more than sit with a book of poetry in a window seat like some pleurisy-ridden Dickensian sub-character. /rant.)

These vibrant dresses are, in short, whimsical play clothes. Lovely enough to make her the mermaid princess fairy of her dreams, but tough enough to let her be the tree-climbing pirate of her backyard. With soft (yet durable) fabrics, elastic which will let the dress grow with your kid, and enough wow factor (and exclusivity of each design), this will absolutely become the favorite item in your daughter’s wardrobe.

Nora’s rocking the Reversible Twirly Racer Dress.
She loves it so much that she is LITERALLY IN THE AIR.

Don’t believe me? Ask Nora.

Here’s another reason why we love this company: their ridiculously adorable website has a TwirlyGirl Theatre section featuring free audio stories for kids. Okay, here’s another another reason: they’ve got a super-sweet personality quiz (and all of the results are refreshingly empowered- ’cause not everyone wants to be told yet again what a pretty, pretty princess they are). And yet another reason? TwirlyGirl is giving Lollygag Blog readers a 15% off discount by using this code: Fun53TG. Visit TwirlyGirl and join me in my intense love of these dresses for tweens and bitsies alike, won’t you? (And give ’em a like on Facebook too, yeah?)

The only way I could possibly love this company more is if they invented a [Dress For Tweens And/Or Bitsies] Time Machine to deliver these superstars to Circa 1989 Keely.

Otherwise, they’re pretty darned perfect.

(That said, TwirlyGirl Time Machine-Inventors: I’ll take a Reversible Twirly Racer Dress of my own, please. Thanks in advance. Or from the future. Whatever.)
