How To Be A Better Person With Netflix And The #StreamTeam.

August’s lineup for Netflix is all about kindness. As a #StreamTeam member, I’m thrilled to share what they’re sharing with ME about how to share with your littles…on the theme of sharing. (Success, you guys.)

There are a whole lotta things that kids are going to learn- and that we want them to learn- in the new school year, but I’d like to argue that among the most important is how to exist in the world with kindness and awareness. (And maybe enough math to balance their checkbooks.)

Netflix has a ton of featured programming this month geared towards the themes of kindness and acceptance for the littlest viewers. Hilariously enough, they’re titles which we’d already added into the rotation…and which some of us beg to watch on a daily basis. Here we go:

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood (any of the episodes, really, but especially Friends Help Each Other). I triple dog dare you to watch this show with your kids and not have these songs in your head FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Whenever life’s little lessons pop up (as they do so flipping often with preschoolers), I find myself humming these tunes and singing these lyrics about everyday life. Sometimes just to P.J.

Super Why! (For example, The Ugly Duckling, Becoming A Swan.) I love Super Why. Fairy tale superheroes taking on grammar and literacy? Boom.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (Give One Bad Apple a gander for fillytastic life lessons). Sure, I’ve loved My Little Pony since I was really little. Sure, I may have foisted this one on my kids’ eyeballs a long, long time ago. And sure, Pinky Pie needs to take it down to maybe a 4 or 5. (I’m sorry, what was the question?)

And what would a #StreamTeam post be without a craft or snacky experience? (You should know by now that these children and their mother will always, always opt for a snack.) Monkey bread is a pretty darned sharetacular recipe- and ridiculously fun to make with the kiddos. We followed the tutorial for salted caramel monkey bread from Andrea Lynn and, as we baked, I talked about how great it was to work together, take turns, and offer each other the best bites.

Totally.
