Ringing In The New Year With The Stream Team (At 4pm).

As part of Netflix’s The #StreamTeam, it’s- yet again- my honor to bring the December awesome in the form of cozy n’ couch-worthy flicks. Their monthly selections are carefully curated, and this month is no exception. Read (and watch) on!

Those crazy critters over in Madagascar really know how to bring the holiday fun. Need some more joy from your exotic besties? Check out these three new titles for Madagascar merrymaking: Merry Madagascar, Madly Madagascar, and The Madagascar Penguins: A Christmas Caper.

Penguins, you guys.

And all of this simply led up to the grand event: the unveiling of Netflix’s new original series All Hail King Julien. (Like prequels? Like prequels with animals? Have I got the show for YOU!)

I love Christmas movies. I love them. But even though the holiday-centric films get dragged out but once a year (’cause I am a stickler), there’s only so many times you can hear certain puppets exclaim certain Dickens quotes. (It numbers into the tens and twenties, but there definitely is a limit.) So what’s a festive gal to do?

Cinchy. She relies on Netflix to help fill in the gaps between popcorn and snacks and kitchen trips for more cocoa. Here’s what’s on my short list of new loves this year:

In Search of Santa (with more pennnguiiiiins!)

VeggieTales’ Saint Nicholas: A Story of Joyful Giving (I like to teach my morality with edible characters whenever possible.)

Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas (am I alone in finding the score and narration of any George endeavor surprisingly soothing?)

And hey, at the tail end of December comes New Year’s Eve! (A celebration my children rarely see! And, sure, one that I rarely make it to, either!) Netflix understands me. So, courtesy of Andrea Lynn, the girls and I pre-gamed (like, by a couple of weeks) and whipped up some sweet mocktails featuring frozen maraschino cherry “cubes.” (Jasper watched on, slightly envious. Next year, pal.)

Midday celebrating and streaming joy in every room of the house?

Good job, 2014. We’ll take it from here.
