The Fuzziest Members Of The Family & The Stream Team.

It’s January! And thanks to my involvement as a Stream Team member, I get to be that excitable girl telling you about Netflix’s fantastically curated content each month. And right now it’s all awesome pets, all the time. Susannah’s getting some ideas.

Pets are such great family members; they’re loving, loyal, and rarely talk back. (And, in the case of my two almost-11 year old kitties, confused as to why we went ahead and had children after them. “Because,” we tell them. “…Because.”)

My girls are crazy about Netflix’s animal epics. (Jasper is ambivalent; his aesthetic tends more towards the “can I chew on it/hit something with it?” form of entertainment. There’s time.) This month, Netflix more than delivered, what with their paw-rrific titles and tales (tails?) of adventure.

Here’s what’s tickling our whiskers right now

The Adventures of Puss in Boots: The frisky feline was one of the best things about Shrek 2- and his subsequent movie was just as fun. Guess who now has his own series? (Guess what I’ll happily put aside laundry to watch with my children?)

Annie: Okay, so my daughters recently decided that this is the best film in the history of ever, and that Sandy is a pretty darned wonderful sidekick/pup. (Fun trivia: My husband, in kindergarten, would sing the movie’s most famous song in front of the class. A lot. Like, most days.)

Friends: You’re watching Friends, right? Since its streaming debut on January 1st of this year, I’m pretty sure everyone and their naked neighbor (anyone?) are mainlining this triumph of television. And Marcel, the scene-stealing monkey, will forever be etched into my mind (and heart) with his moments of absolute brilliance. (After swallowing Scrabble tiles- “We think he was trying to spell ‘monkey!'”)

Jasper owl lovey

My flyboy wants to know if owl pacifiers count as pets.
Because they sure as heck make exceptional sidekicks.

Pretty darned amazing projects

Do you like hot cocoa? Do you like things shaped like other things? (Sometimes I ask questions that are just so ridiculously answerable in the affirmative that I stun myself.) Andrea Lynn provided this cool cat alternative to boring marshmallows with your sweet treat. (I hadn’t even realized I was lacking a cat-shaped cutout. I shall change my ways. Marshmeow!)

And how about the world’s cutest piggy bank? Sooner than you can say “washi tape,” you’ll have this adorable bank just perfect for saving pennies and nickels. And then just watch out.

…Because your big spender’s totally gonna want a pet.
