Things you need to know right now: Memorial Day edition.

Memorial Day weekend inspires the average homeowner to do two things: eat lots of grilled meat, and fix things around the house. (P.J. would suggest that I’m not the “average” homeowner, especially when it comes to the prospect of eating food and changing things up.)

Have I got some info for you!

Chicago loves the Weber Grill. (And everyone visiting Chicago, naturally, loves the Weber Grill.) What’s not to adore? Primo locale next to the Mag Mile, an off-the-charts awesome staff, a 3-season outdoor patio, and even a cute li’l red Weber Grill on the roof to mark the entrance. (One of us is really drawn in by details like that. Not telling you who.)

So when I was invited to help celebrate National Burger Month(!) and try out the two newly unveiled Weber Grill burgers(!) and learn about the “Weber Way” Secret Burger(!!!), I was stoked. (All in the name of journalism, people.)

Here’s what I learned/devoured:

The 1/3lb Bar Burger, with lettuce, tomato, onion, and your choice of cheese, will be $5 in the bar on Memorial Day, May 30th, 2016. (Take your spouse, kids, people you just met at the park- A FIVE DOLLAR WEBER GRILL BURGER.)

The Mediterranean Lamb Burger blends ground lamb and beef and glorious spices to create an insanely delicious burger on a grilled pita that you’ll crave at least twice a day.

And that “Secret Way?” Request this to get any burger topped with hickory smoked brisket and Merkt’s cheddar cheese. a) Are you hungry yet? b) Could this option be any more Midwestern?

p.s. These burgers pair shockingly well with the tartly refreshing limoncello sangria. (So I’ve heard.)

And now, on to home repair:

Have you guys heard of Sugru? It’s the world’s first moldable glue brand and, I’ve gotta tell you, I’m completely sold. It’s wild. You’ve got this pliable, rubbery substance that allows for shaping (for up to half an hour). Then, it becomes a “solid” rubber. Then, you’ve totally solved all of the weird repair and storage issues in your house. Cable storage (and repair)? Tooth brush holders? Shoe stacking? It comes in about a gazillion cool colors, too. (Sugru’s blog has really cute ideas for spring cleaning and decluttering.)

And with all of the unfortunate ways that my houses continues to fall apart, this is how I chose to try it out:

Sugru

(I can hear you asking yourself- “Keely, have you ever given thought to the Interior Photography Arts?”)

Yep, necklace hangin’.

Truth be told, I’d been looking for a creative way to store necklaces and chains in my closet. (Yes, #firstworldproblems, but also #OCDproblems.) The material that my closet is built out of (you’d assume wood, right? Nope!) doesn’t hold up well to things nailed or push-pinned into it, creating holes of failure- right above tangled necklaces.

So I twisted tiny little hooks and shoved them on the closet wall. Half an hour later, boom. Tiny li’l storage helpers. The next day? Reporting for multi-length chain duty, sir.

So now I’m hooked.

And totally looking for the next thing to fix/craft/store.

Sorry, P.J.

It’s probably something of yours.
